Sewing/Quilting Dream Set w/ Tailors Board

What a wonderful gift set for a person who sews or quilts. This bundle set is at a discounted price.  If purchased separate, the cost would be over $150.00 plus shipping.

This beautiful solid Oak bundle set includes the following:

The Tailors Clapper is a must have for sewing and ironing. It is used to press seams without burning.  I discovered the clapper while I was taking a sewing class on making jeans and wondered how I ever sewed without it.  Now, I use it on everything I make.

Used with steam from your iron, press the area with the clapper and hold for just a few seconds, it will leave a nice crisp seam.

Larger Clapper weights about 1.2 lbs and measures 11 ½” inches long, 3” wide tapered down to 2 1/2 inches and is 1 1/2” thick. Medium Clapper weighs 12oz, and measure 9 1/2″ long, 2 1/2″ wide tapering down to 2″. Smaller clapper weighs 6 oz, and measure 8″ long 2″ wide tapered down to 1 1/2″ and is 1 1/2″ thick.

Both sides have routed grooves to offer easy handling and is unfinished to better absorb steam.

Colors may vary from the above picture. They may be lighter or darker depending on the variations of color in the wood used.

A set of 4 pattern weights are just the thing to hold those pattern pieces in place instead of pins while you cut with your scissors or rotary cutter.

Also great for tracing patterns.

Made of beautifully crafted Oak and weighing approximately 8 oz each, the set of 4 weights approximately 2 lbs and measures 1 1/2″ in height and 3″ diameter. Product is unfinished to help prevent shifting.

The center of the weight is filled with lead. Lead is completely encased in wood.

As those who sew know, trying to iron those curves using a Tailor’s Ham can be tricky, especially when you are using steam.

This handy Tailors Ham Holder is made of solid Oak and is a must for your sewing room.

It is designed to hold either a small or large Tailor’s Ham and angle it to the desired position making ironing a breeze. It’s a real time saver.

Pressing is the most important process in making your hand sewn items look more crisp and professional.

The Tailors Board has a variety of flat surfaces, angles, and curved edges that aid in helping to shape the garments seams to fit the body.

This item is made of Oak which helps hold the heat.

To use the board you will first want to evaluate the seam in question and fit the seam to the shape.

Standing the board on one end you will see two curves, a large curve and a smaller curve.

Large Curve

Used for Sleeve Caps, armhole and arm side seams.

Smaller Curve

Used for pressing tighter curves such as collars and small children’s clothes.

Placing the board on the flat side you will see a long-curved edge.

Long Curved Edge

Used for princess seams.

Large Flat Surface

Used for pressing any flat surface.

Standing the board at the other end, on what looks like a handle (medium curve) you will have two sharp points used for collars in a variety of ways.

With the flat surface face down, you now have a Point Press and a Medium Curve.

Point Press

Used for corners such as a pointed collar, square pocket, or a waistband.  It allows you to iron all the way to the edge and allows you to press a nice long seam at the same time.

Medium Curve

This curve runs perpendicular to the point press and is used for pressing smaller, tighter curves such as a rounded collar.
